Aku is a small family-owned business, and we make all our products right here in Leigh, North of Auckland.
With Aku, I wanted to create a product that worked better than disposable pads, felt better, was better for your health whilst making as little impact as possible on our environment through unnecessary waste.
The results of lots of research and testing were our well-made, easy-care and environmentally friendly reusable menstrual pads. Pads that are discrete AND grown-up. The all-black design means NO stains, no hassles, and NO waste. The fully black pads are essentially invisible from the outside (if wearing black undies) and cleaning them and keeping them looking great and stain-free is easy!
Made with a combination of natural and man-made fibres, each pad will replace up to 120 disposable pads. Fully machine washable and able to be sunlight or tumble dried.

The pad base is a fast drying polyester knit that has been bonded to a breathable and waterproof polyurethane film, that will last up to 1000 laundry cycles!
The soft suede-cloth top layer wicks moisture away from your skin and into the absorbent inner core.
The Bamboo inner core has four times the absorption of cotton. Bamboo has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties; this fast growing crop requires less water to produce and has less impact on our environment.
Polycetal Resin Snaps are a fast and secure way to attach your pad. The wings wrap around the gusset of your underwear and snap closed.
